A SERIES OF DEVOTIONS BASED ON PAUL’S FIRST LETTER TO THE CHURCH AT THESSALONICA
ALL OF GOD’S WORD IS TRUE
1 Thessalonians 4:8 “ . . . anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you His Holy Spirit.”
Critics of the teaching that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible word of God say it is out-of-date, irrelevant, has errors and human beings should determine what in the Bible is true and what is not. Today’s devotional verse says, “. . . “ . . . anyone who rejects this instruction (from My word) does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you His Holy Spirit.”
John, in his Gospel, wrote, “But these (the words of his gospel) are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” St. Paul exhorted Timothy to continue believing and teaching the Holy Scriptures because they “ . . . are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15) Further, St. Paul wrote to Timothy, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) And, as for you as you consider the Holy Scriptures remember the Gospel is, “ . . . the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:16-17)
As a believer in Jesus Christ, God has given you the gift of the Holy Spirit to work faith in your heart to read, hear, study, and believe what the Holy Scriptures tell you about Jesus, your Savior taking away your sins and giving you the gift of everlasting life in heaven.
To reject the truth of the Holy Scriptures is to reject the love God gives through His Son Jesus. To reject the truth of the Holy Scriptures is to reject their message your sins are forgiven by God because of the life, death, and resurrection of His Son. To reject the truth of the Holy Scriptures is to believe Satan’s lie that God is the liar.
The Holy Scriptures are God’s truth. (John 17:17) They alone reveal God’s unconditional love for you.
Prayer: Speak to me every day Lord through the words of the Holy Scriptures to enlighten me and keep me in the true faith to life everlasting. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God’s Word is our great heritage
And shall be ours forever;
To spread its light from age to age
Shall be our chief endeavor.
Through life it guides our way,
In death it is our stay.
Lord, grant, while worlds endure,
We keep its teachings pure
Throughout all generations.
