27 Dec Luke II – 12/26/2020
Christmas is the day in which we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Christmas is also steeped in traditions. We sing those traditional songs such as “O Little Town of Bethlehem”, “Away in a Manger”, “What Child Is This”, and of course “Silent Night, Holy Night”. We read the Christmas story found in Luke Chapter 2. We cherish all this as our Christmas tradition. Yes, we all love our Christmas traditions.
As I was reading Luke 2 this year, I noticed that many of those traditions that we hold so dear don’t appear in the Christmas Story as recorded by Luke.
Today we take a few minutes to exam God’s Word from Luke 2 and reflect upon what is Biblical and what is tradition. Although I’m not ready to give up those precious Christmas Traditions we all grew up with and love, we need to take time to look at the recorded story Christmas found in Luke 2.
