WALK IN THE LIGHT – PART III
2 Corinthians 6:16 “For we are the temple of the living God.”
An unbeliever has room in their heart for many gods. The Greeks had an entire hill filled with idols that they worshipped. To be certain they added one additional one which they named “to the unknown god.”
Jesus says to you, “You in me, and I in you. . .if you love Me and keep my Word My Father will love You and He and I will come to you and make our dwelling within you.” (John 14:20,23 Mirly paraphrase) Your God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit has taken up residence in your heart and life. God has promised, “And I will set my tabernacle among you. . . and I will walk among you, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people.” (Leviticus 26:11-12)
All idols are dead. The hearts that embrace them embrace what is void and without life. Faith in them leads only to death because they have no ability to give life as does Jesus who alone is life. (John 14:6)
“You are the temple (sanctuary) of the living God.” (2 Corinthians 6:16) Jesus lives in you and you draw your life from Him. In every heart of those who believe in Jesus God takes up residence. As God was present among the Children of Israel in the wilderness in a cloud by day and fire by night so God is with you day and night. Take comfort in the words of Jesus, “Lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
The unbelievers in this world embrace, worship, and trust in a variety of gods. They are deceived by Satan and his wicked allies to believe and trust in these false gods believing they will provide for their every need. They fail to see that it is Yahweh who created them and provides for their every need of body, soul, mind, and spirit. You, by God’s grace, have been gifted with a faith that believes and trusts in Him who alone is true God. Through Jesus He takes up residence in your heart. He alone gives you a life that will endure for all eternity.
Prayer: Dwell in me, O Lord, until that day when I will dwell with you and all the saints for all eternity. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Oh, that the Lord would guide my ways To keep His statutes still!
Oh, that my God would grant me grace To know and do His will!
Order my footsteps by Thy Word And make my heart sincere;
Let sin have no dominion, Lord, But keep my conscience clear.
Assist my soul, too apt to stray, A stricter watch to keep;
And should I e’er forget Thy way, Restore Thy wand’ring sheep.
Make me to walk in Thy commands— “tis a delightful road—
Nor let me head or heart or hands Offend against my God.
