23 May Pentecost – 5/23/2021
Today we celebrate Pentecost, the birth of the Christian Church. Ironically our sermon text for this Pentecost Sunday uses bones, a valley full of dry human bones to teach important truths about the Holy Spirit (Ezekiel 37: 1-14). And just what are those truths? Make no bones about it; the Holy Spirit grants life. He does so through God’s Word, and He does so to God’s glory.
Make no bones about it; the Holy Spirit continues to grant life today. He does so through God’s Word whether it is preached by a pastor or whether it’s the Word that you read in your private devotions.
Since the Holy Spirit comes to us through God’s Word, it is important for us to stay grounded in that Word or we’ll waste away and become spiritual skeletons again, just like that “Valley of Dry Bones” in Ezekiel’s vision.
