24 Dec Frohe Weihnachten! – 12/24/2020
Tonight, Luke takes us through the beginning of the infancy narrative, those words he records regarding the preparation for the coming of the King, and the realization that indeed He has come to His earth. We hear first of the miracle in humans of the birth of John the Baptist, sent to prepare the way for Jesus and His ministry.
Then, the miracle divine, the conception of the Son of the Most High by the Holy Spirit in the young Mary. The government decrees that she, together with Joseph, travel the distance to Bethlehem, the city of David. When the child is born, the angels engage shepherds to go down from the fields and witness the baby for themselves. Come with us as we remember those long-ago days!
Christmas hymns are long a part of our lives – let me hear you singing with us these comforting and familiar tunes. And most especially, please take solace, in the midst of all that seems wrong these days, in the righteousness of God’s plan for our salvation in the Christ child. Take heart, seek His peace, find joy in the season. And pray that next year, we may all be together in His sanctuary for Christmas! Good health to you, good cheer to you, and have a Merry Christmas!
Or as Luther would have said, Frohe Weihnachten!
